God loves you

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

 

This verse magnifies God's great love for you. He loved the world, every aspect of it, so much that He gave His only Son as a sacrifice for it, for you.

 

God loves you. He always has and he always will. You are so special to Him, a unique type of special that nothing else could ever match up to. God doesn't love you because you are a good person or do all the right things. He loves you because He is love. He would love you just the same if you were a bad person who does lots of wrong things. Love is not something that 'does'; it is something that He is. God is love.

 

God's love is pure and ever flowing and it never runs out. His love cannot be earned or deserved, it is totally unconditional. Love is received by faith.

 

"and to know this love that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God" Ephesians 3:19

 

In this verse, Paul prays that we may come to really know God's love. When we do, we are strengthened on the inside. When we are strengthened inwardly, in our hearts, it is impossible for our outward difficulties to defeat us. With God's love within you, nothing is insurmountable!

 

If you have never received love yourself, from any source, then you will never be able to express love or give love away. You may have experienced a neglected, abusive childhood where you were never loved by your parents and those around you. Turn to God and let Him love you. Receive His love, meditate on it, let it restore and strengthen you.

 

Once God's love is within you, you can then set about showing love to others. Letting your love shine on others is an awesome thing to do.
