I already have a blog where I keep all my creative work. My life is changing a lot at the moment and there are lots of issues, beliefs and such that I find myself musing for hours over. I've decided that it might be a good idea to write my musings down somewhere. I have no idea where this will go so it will be an adventure, an exciting one I hope.

Medicine vs. Healing

"A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones" Proverbs 17:22

How much time do you spend being negative compared to time spend spreading joy?

The fact is that the happier you are, with a positive outlook, the more likely you are to be healed in His name.

Sickness can be a result of sin. Adam ate the apple, the forbidden fruit and sin entered the world. But God is awesome and can heal. What we need to do is ensure that we do not leave an open door for the devil to throw sickness and disease in.

Our mindset also plays a large part. We would deeply benefit from putting positive thinking into our lives in a big way as the knock on effects of this stance are huge. It is impossible to be miserable, grumpy and sad whilst thinking positive. However, being stuck in a cycle of negative thinking breeds nothing but misery and ill health.

Medicine has its place in the realm of sickness. We need medicine for all sorts of reasons it should never be advocated that you shun medicine in the hope of a miracle healing. However, God has a very important part to play. He can give us the strength that we need to get through our illness.

There is one important thing to understand if you suffer from a long term disease or illness: This affliction is not part of you. It is not part of your make-up. You must never take ownership of it by using the word 'my', as in 'my arthritis'. You affliction does not make up who you are, it is not part of you. Once you take ownership of it, it becomes part of you, like a valued possession which is very hard to let go of.

If we spent as much time 'with God' as we did sat in the doctor's waiting room for a prescription for pills, we would experience more healing. All it takes is five minutes once or twice a day, on a minimal level, spent in prayer asking for healing. More time would be desirable but the importance is that we are willing to submit and show our faith in God. To 'wait on God' for healing is probably the most absent thing in our walk with Him. Acknowledge that God is your doctor and that He can make you well. The more you wait on God on a daily basis the more healing you will receive and the fewer ailments you will contract.

We need to try our very best to keep ourselves well and healthy so that we feel good both physically and mentally for God's sake. The better we feel, the more able we are to serve and do God's work in His Kingdom.
