I already have a blog where I keep all my creative work. My life is changing a lot at the moment and there are lots of issues, beliefs and such that I find myself musing for hours over. I've decided that it might be a good idea to write my musings down somewhere. I have no idea where this will go so it will be an adventure, an exciting one I hope.

A World without God?

The world, the universe: awesome perfection! However, the theory of evolution, based on the idea that the world and everything in it developed from nothing is a widely held belief, even amongst great scholars. These people mock the idea that Creation requires a thoughtful, purposeful, almighty Creator. Even some scholarly Christians accept the theory of evolution. Observance of the Sabbath however, keeps those who faithfully obey the Ten Commandments whilst remembering that their faith is founded on the existence of an all-powerful Creator who is not limited by natural processes.

"By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible" (Hebrews 11:3). That faith shows total confidence that the Bible was inspired by the Spirit of God and accurately reveals how the whole world came into existence.

God reveals very few details about how He created the universe, only that he did create it, and in 7 days. Observing the Sabbath reminds us of that each and every week. God does not want us to lose this understanding. He knows that everyone who neglects this knowledge loses sight of who and what He is. The Sabbath keeps us in constant remembrance that we worship the Creator of the universe.

The Sabbath is not just a reminder of a past creation. God completed the physical part of His creation in six days. However, the spiritual part is a work in progress, the Sabbath is the main day for worship and our inner development in Christ.

Paul spoke, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). The new spiritual creation is internal, in the heart and character of each person. Spiritual character cannot just come by our own will. We need guidance from God to help us not to succumb to the weaknesses and pulls of human nature.

God himself develops holy and righteous spiritual character within us. He reshapes our thinking and gives us the power and the will to resist our nature. Paul confirms this, "it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure" (Philippians 2:13)
