I already have a blog where I keep all my creative work. My life is changing a lot at the moment and there are lots of issues, beliefs and such that I find myself musing for hours over. I've decided that it might be a good idea to write my musings down somewhere. I have no idea where this will go so it will be an adventure, an exciting one I hope.

What is God's mercy

Psalm 103:8-10 - "The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbour his anger for ever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities."

1 Peter 1:3 - "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."

In essence mercy is an undeserved favour. Compassion shown to someone who deserves less but ends up receiving more. Compassion is showered on those who may actually expect to receive anger and bitterness but they don't; they receive grace.

God's mercy goes beyond that. It exonerates you from punishment and condemnation for your sins but more besides. Mercy is the blessed act of receiving an undeserved gift. That gift could be a helping hand or it could be you being on the receiving end of an emotion or action.

God's own mercy is even greater. It is receiving salvation from eternal death and being given in exchange a life eternal in heaven. There are times when you or others may feel that you do not deserve mercy but God will still offer it to you, because he is a great God who loves you without prejudice. We all need mercy from time to time in a more powerful way than what we receive on a daily basis.

Gods mercies will never cease. He will never, ever stop giving you his faithfulness, undivided attention, hope for your future and many other spiritual gifts. All perhaps seemingly undeserved in yours and others eyes but it is by God's mercy that you are alive and breathing right now.

Be faithful, honour your God and receive his mercy in abundance!!!
