I already have a blog where I keep all my creative work. My life is changing a lot at the moment and there are lots of issues, beliefs and such that I find myself musing for hours over. I've decided that it might be a good idea to write my musings down somewhere. I have no idea where this will go so it will be an adventure, an exciting one I hope.

What is faith?

John 5:24 - " Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life."

Acts 16:31 - "They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household."

Hebrews 11:1 - "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."

Do you know what having faith actually means? Faith is far more than just believing. It is entrusting your life in what you believe in. As a Christian you choose and then are therefore willing to let God lead you in your life, as set out in the Bible because you have the conviction that this is what is best for you. You will find that you are willing to endure ridicule and persecution for your faith (note I never said suffer or suffering!) because you are sure as a true Christian that God is who he says he is and that he will keep all the promises he made about his love for you. Remember, God's love is without condition and without exception and he will help in times of trouble. He will also offer you salvation if you believe and then gifts you with an eternal life in Heaven.

Mark 5:36 - "Don't be afraid. Just have faith" - Sometimes faith can seem so complicated can't it? And you may sometimes find yourself questioning how you can ever understand it. Does this apply to you? If so, take a step back. Faith is not complicated. It simply means trusting Jesus to do as he has promised.

Matthew 17:20 - "Jesus replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."" - The mustard seed was often used in the Bible to illustrate the smallest seed know to people meaning that faith is not a matter of quantity or size. It is the size of the One who you believe in that makes the difference and our God is a great God, an awesome almighty God.

Ponder on this: You do not have to have great faith in a God but have faith in a great God...

Romans 3:24-25 - "and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished" - Faith in God affects your life. You are made right with God when you come to believe that Jesus died for your sins. Faith is your lifeline to God and sin breaks that. A holy God cannot live with unholy people but from the simple act of faith of accepting Jesus as your saviour makes you holy in Gods eyes.

Romans 8:5 - "Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires." - Faith is inviting God's Holy Spirit to live in you. It is not just an act of the mind. It taps into the very resources of God so that you can have the power instilled in you to live in a totally new way - a life that is happy, joyful and has ultimate meaning.

Your faith will get stronger the more you put it into practice. When you do what God asks you to do and as a result see him bless you. Your faith starts to grow stronger and when others see that happening they are encouraged and motivated to grow stronger in their own faith too.

Are you ready to improve your faith in order to help others improve theirs???
