I already have a blog where I keep all my creative work. My life is changing a lot at the moment and there are lots of issues, beliefs and such that I find myself musing for hours over. I've decided that it might be a good idea to write my musings down somewhere. I have no idea where this will go so it will be an adventure, an exciting one I hope.

Maintaining a good reputation

Proverbs 3:3-4 - "Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favour and a good name in the sight of God and man.

Colossians 3:23-24 - "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."

2 Corinthians 8:20-21 - We want to avoid any criticism of the way we administer this liberal gift. For we administer this liberal gift. For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men."

A good reputation can actually help you and others experience God. First, the reputation you strive to achieve should result from being fully committed to building spiritual character in your life, not building an external image.

A reputation built on image without substance eventually becomes a crumbling facade. The key to spiritual strength is building your life to mirror the character of God. Secondly, integrity produces credibility. Your testimony of faith means nothing if your actions contradict what you say and others will think you are foolish. It is sad how often the message of God is discredited or made fun of because of a damaged reputation.

A godly reputation, built through integrity and humility spreads the life-changing message of God and the relevancy of truth. Your life should be the proof that others need to accept God's love.

Finally, God cares about your reputation. Having a good and honest reputation has many benefits in this life but also brings rewards for eternity. It is important to work hard, not to please others but to please God. This also honours his reputation. What matters most is not what others think of you, but what God thinks of you.
