I already have a blog where I keep all my creative work. My life is changing a lot at the moment and there are lots of issues, beliefs and such that I find myself musing for hours over. I've decided that it might be a good idea to write my musings down somewhere. I have no idea where this will go so it will be an adventure, an exciting one I hope.

Divine Healing

No one wants to be sick. Everyone wants to be healthy and well. This is evident by the huge sums of money that are ploughed into the NHS in the UK. Individuals will pretty much submit themselves to anything in order to retain or regain their health. This is the strongest universal desire amongst.

Mankind was created by God to live forever. But inside of all of us there is a God-given aversion to sickness, disease and dying. God created us to be perfectly healthy. Sickness came upon us as a result of our rejection of God and his ways.

Proverbs 14:12 - "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death"

Proverbs 16:25 - "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death"

Death, including sickness, was our choice, not God's. He offers us divine healing but many Christians are opposed to it, and others who believe in healing fail to receive it.

One of the main reasons for this is inconvenience. It is obvious that not everyone gets healed. Even people who desire to be healed may not receive it, ergo, it's not always God's will to heal. This is a convenient excuse to many. They can blame God if things don't go right and not themselves.

Modern culture has become obsessed with refusing to accept personal responsibility. Blame-claim culture being the most prolific example. We blame others instead of admitting our faults and overcoming them, or admitting that some things 'just' happen. Our insecurities cause us to reject any blame for our problems. It's easier to believe we suffer sickness and are depressed because of chemical imbalances and bad gene pools.

The carnal church has bought the same lie - "It couldn't be our unbelief that keeps us from receiving from God; it must be God who doesn't want us well." We've developed many theologies that place the blame on God.

It is commonly taught that God wants us to be sick. It is said that this is the way God teaches us and builds our character. This is absolutely untrue!

Hebrews 1:3 - "The Son in the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word."

Jesus is the perfect representation of God, yet he never made one person sick or told anyone that he would not heal them.

John 5:19 - "Jesus gave them this answer. 'I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does',"

Jesus makes it very clear that He only did the things that his Father did. If Jesus didn't make people sick, neither does God. If Jesus never refused to heal a single person, then our God doesn't either.

Acts 10:38 - "how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him."

The Apostle Peter, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit spoke this Scripture, pointing out that the sick were oppressed by the devil, not by God.

The first step on the path to freedom is to accept the truth. It is our own recovery that is the problem. Whilst we continue to take comfort in the thought It's all up to God, whatever will be will be, we will always stay victims and never become victors.
